The Sagrada Familia, whose full name is Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Familia, is a big Catholic church in Barcelona (Spain), designed by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi. Launched in 1882, is still under construction (June 2008). It is the masterpiece of Gaudi, and the greatest exponent of Catalan modernist architecture.

Construction began in neo-Gothic style, but to assume the project Gaudi in 1883, was completely redesigned. According to his usual approach, starting with sketches of general building construction improvised as they progressed. It took over with only 31 years, dedicating the rest of his life, the last fifteen exclusive. Gaudi died in 1926, only one tower had been built. The building project will only be retained drawings and a model in plaster which was badly damaged during the Spanish Civil War. [2] Since then they have continued works: currently finished portals of the Nativity and the Passion, and has begun of Glory, and are running the vaults inside. The work accomplished by Gaudi, namely the facade of the Nativity and the crypt, has been included by UNESCO in 2005 in the World Heritage Site 'Works of Antoni Gaudí.
